| ADVANCEMENT MANIA September 2009 - March 2010 Camp John J. Barnhardt |
| We are planning big things at Camp John J. Barnhardt for Venturers and Boy Scouts during Advancement Mania. Participants will have the chance to work on new Merit Badges/rank advancements or Venture core / elective requirements. The Advancement Mania classes will be taught by volunteer counselors who are experts or enthusiasts in their area of knowledge! Leaders will also have a training opportunity offered. The classes will be held September - March according to the schedule below. Each class will last from 9:00 am - 3:30 pm, with 1 hour for lunch. Registration begins at 8:00 am. All classes are capped at 16 participants each and registration deadlines are noted (*). Classes with no one registered in them on the Monday following the registration deadline will be cancelled. No walk-ins will be allowed the day of the event. In-council participant fee is $10 / out of council participant fee is $20. An optional $3 lunch will be available. Everyone that registers after the deadline will be charged an additional $5 fee. Out of council units cannot register any earlier than 12 days before the event. If you wish to view the merit badge requirements, you may purchase the merit badge book or visit scouting.org (see link on the left). Only the requirements that are reasonable to complete in a 5-hour session at the mania will be taught. Other requirements can either be completed ahead of time or the scout will receive a partial and can complete later. Any unit that wishes to camp must have a short term camp permit filed with Central NC Council (can be downloaded at centralnccouncilbsa.com).
