Do not miss a grand opportunity to come to Camp Barnhardt in 2008. We are planning an
awesome program for this summer. We are extremely excited about this year’s theme “Camp
Barnhardt Rodeo and Wild West Show”. It has given us the opportunity to plan some amazing
camp wide events. The year “2008” is going to be a year remembered for a long time, the
program is going to be phenomenal. The only way to ensure that your unit is a part of it all is to
be in attendance. We can potentially fit at least one unit in every week, right now. The weeks
that still have full sub sites open are weeks 4 (July 13-19) and week 5 (July 20-26). Please do not
put off signing up for the 2008 camping season. Contact Ellen Whitley (704) 982-0141 ext. 227 to
make your reservation today.
The scoutmaster’s camp promotion meeting had over 60 troops and 136 leaders in
attendance. If you have not received your leader’s packet, please contact your District Camp
Promotions Chairman or your District Executive immediately to start planning your promotion
night. For those scouts that are interested in joining the summer camp posse this summer, they
should download the staff application from the website and fill it out. Upon filling it out they
should mail it to the council office and our Camp Director Richard Davis will give them a call to
set up an appointment for an interview.
We are continuing to offer the Assistant Commissioner Program in 2008. This is a great
opportunity for those adults who are available to volunteer a week’s worth of time during the
day at camp chaperoning an activity, inspecting campsites or filling in for program staff in
an emergency. This is an opportunity available only when your troop is not present at camp due
to the responsibilities of the position and the recognition for participating will be a staff patch or
shirt. For those that show a high level of commitment they will receive both. In order to
participate, mail in a staff application or call John Stogner at 919-357-6836 before May 15th. We
will have a training session on June the 19th to deputize our new Assistant Commissioners at
camp.
The Council would like to thank the Itibapishe Iti Holo Lodge for hosting the promotion night
and they want to extend an invitation to all units to come to the Council Beaver Day on April the
19th. This is a day of service to help make the final touches to camp before National Camp
School and Summer Camp. All units can help make a difference (Packs, Troops, Crews and
Posts). To register for the event call Ellen Whitley 704-982-0141 ext. 227.
